Venture
off the beaten path just a few miles and minutes in northeastern Nevada, and you'll find some
of the continent's best kept secrets.
Spring
Creek, where this photo was taken, is less than ten minutes from Elko.
Nevada's
outback is still cowboy country -- it's open range. Elko is the home of the now world-famous Cowboy Poetry
Festival, held in mid-winter, a cowboy's slow season.

This corner of Nevada
has the nation's (and some of the world's) largest gold mines, which keep
the economy prosperous and the social atmosphere lively. Elko, seat
of one of America's largest and least populous-per-acre counties, has remarkable
convention facilities, casinos, and a rambunctious night life.
For general information about the region, check the
Elko Chamber of Commerce and ECEDA sites. Right here on Rabbitbrush,
you'll find lots of substance, all contributed by the people who live here, as
well as links to other web sites about Northeast Nevada.
But don't settle for virtual reality! This is a great place to visit,
and, who knows, a few visionaries among you may even want to live here. |
